Read and Publish. Publish and Read. Transformative Agreements. Plan S. Open Access. Find yourself confused and/or curious about these frequently used terms and phrases about scholarly publication? What exactly is a transformative agreement? How do they work? Will they replace the traditional subscription model? How are publishers responding? What does this mean for academic libraries and their collection budgets? Changes are underway and understanding the shifting landscape will help librarians as they prepare for the future. During this free workshop, participants will learn the basics about open access and scholarly publication. MCLS Group Purchasing Manager Stephanie Davis will outline the trends, define the vocabulary, examine current transformative agreement models and help participants gain a better understanding of how scholarly publishing is changing and the impact it will have on libraries, librarians, publishers and the public. Question and answer time included.
