Description

Details

Emotional Intelligence is an essential element in the workplace, especially in high-stress environments. Your emotions can preoccupy your thoughts and interfere with your ability to evaluate a situation objectively. Knowing what triggers your emotional responses and understanding how to exercise self-control over them enables you to confront difficult issues and manage change with clarity and composure.

This course will provide you with knowledge and tools to develop deeper emotional intelligence. You’ll learn how to avoid self-sabotaging outcomes by altering how you perceive and respond to emotionally-charged situations. In addition, you’ll improve your ability to resolve conflict constructively, build and mend relationships, and bounce back from setbacks.

Registered attendees will receive access information when the recording is available. You will have unlimited view access to this recording for six months from the date of issue. The issue date is the first day the recording is available to you.

Instructor: Jan Davidson

Jan Davidson began working at MCLS in 2016, and is the Project Manager for Engagement, Consulting, & Training. She has a B.A. in Interpersonal Communication from Western Michigan University, a Project Management for Learning Professionals Certificate from the Association for Talent Development, a Certificate in Youth Ministry from the Center for Ministry Development, and completed the Developing Leaders Program for Nonprofit Professionals at Columbia University. She has also received Public Innovator training from the Harwood Institute for Public Innovation. While libraries are still relatively new to Jan (other than as a lifelong patron, of course), she has over fifteen years of experience in nonprofit work, focused heavily on program development and management and group facilitation and training. She loves teaching and is excited to bring her communication and nonprofit workplace knowledge to three soft skills webinars this semester. Jan grew up in Lansing, spent thirteen years in Kalamazoo, then five on the East Coast, and has now come full circle and lives in Lansing with her husband and two young sons.
