Description

Details

A reprise (and update, with brand-new information!) of the MeLCat and Linked Data session held at the 2016 MLA Conference, this session will explore what libraries must do to make their holdings visible on the open web. By using linked data, libraries can meet the public where they are in the world of search and then drive them to library websites and online catalogs, thereby increasing the use of library resources. An explanation of the concept of linked data will be followed by information on the experimental project by the Library of Michigan and MCLS to transform millions of MeLCat records into linked data.

Free for staff of MeLCat libraries.

*If you plan to have more than one person from your library logged in together on one computer, please contact Gwen at training@mcls.org so she can keep the attendance records accurate. Thank you!
