In partnership with the Library of Michigan, presenters from We Can Work It Out, LLC will be coming to Michigan this summer and fall to lead trainings on facilitation. These trainings are open to staff of Michigan libraries, with a particular focus on those who have gone through The Harwood Institute Public Innovators labs, with the purpose of helping you increase skills and knowledge necessary to ensure successful community engagement projects in your local communities.
The Basic training will focus on facilitating effective community meetings, including agenda planning, meeting formats, managing difficult personalities, acknowledging and reflecting participant emotions, supporting participation across the group, identifying challenges, surfacing concerns, summarizing participant comments, recording meeting outcomes, delegating, and planning for next steps. The day will include learning theory as well as practice of the skills, peer feedback, and more practice.
Registration will be 9:30am - 10am, training from 10am - 4pm.
